JAWAHARLAL NEHRU TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY KAKINADA

Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Kakinada has been established in the year 2008 by rearganizing erstwhile the first Technological university of the country, JNTU Hyderabad into three Technological universities in the State of Andhra Pradesh by an Act of State Legislative Assembly (Act.No.30 of 008.). JNTUK is having two constitutuent Engineering colleges, Institute of Science and Technology and School of Management Studies apart from 267 affiliated colleges across eight districts jurisdiction of Coastal Andhra Pradesh. Institute of Science and Technology offers PG and Research activities namely, M.Tech in Bio Technology, Food Technology, Nanotechnology, Remote ssensing, Avionics and M.S. in Environmental Occupational Hazards & Safety, Sport Technologu & health Science and M.Pharmacy in Pharmaceutics, Pharmacology and Pharmaceutical Anlaysis and Quality Assurance.
Kakinada is known as the "Fertilizer City" of Andhra Pradesh. The city is home to two fertilizer producers: Nagarjuna Fertilizers (the largest urea manufacturer in coastal Andhra) and Godavari Fertilizers producing di-ammonium hydrogen phosphate). In 2002, several edible-oil refineries were established in Kakinada, with a refining capacity of 3,000 tons per day; they include Acalmar Oils - Adani Wilmar, Ruchi Infrastructure and Nikhil Refineries. The port facilitates the importation of crude palm and soybean oil. Vakalapudi Industrial Park has attracted over $10 million in investment from biodiesel companies such as Reliance Industries, Natural Bioenergy and Universal Bio Fuel. Andhra Pradesh has entered into an agreement with Reliance Industries for Jatropha planting. The company selected 200 acres (81 ha) of land in Kakinada to grow Jatropha for quality biodiesel fuel.

Godavari Knowledge Society

As a Registered Not-For-Profit Organization, GKS will focus on creating local entrepreneurship using local resources tightly integrated with global knowledge channels (people, technologies, markets). Godavari Knowledge Society, Kakinada (GKS) in alliance with JNTUK, Kakinada has established the Godavari Knowledge Park (A Technology Business Incubation Center) on Marine and Agricultural Biotechnologies. The GKS is headed & guided by eminent personalities like Hon Justice S.N.Phukan (former Judge, Supreme Court of India), Shri Gopala Krishna, IAS (Rtd) former Additional Chief Secretary, Govt. of AP; Chairman of Rural Electrfication Corporation, AP State Financial Corporation, and founder CMD of Godavari Fertilizers Limited, Kakinada, Shri PVA Rama Rao (Former Managing Director of NABARD), Shri D.Surya Rao (Industrialist and Chairman of Cocanada Chamber of Commerce) and Mr.M.Sriniivasa.Shankara Prasad ( an Entrepreneur-Innovator with 25 years experience in the Chemical ,Pharma & Biotech Industry).

Godavari Knowledge Park

(A Technology Business Incubator) was set up in collaboration with the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Kakinada to foster innovation, research and entrepreneurial activities in technology-based domains. Established in the East Godavari district, the Incubator is conceptualized to function on the public- private- partnership model. It will provide the optimal infrastructure for research and development activities in Biotechnology and to convert innovative ideas into commercially viable products and process.
